PROJECT TOPICS ON FIRM & ICEBERG THEORY OR MODEL
a)These are the components OR factors which you need to do a research and make
comparisons between TWO (2) organisations with TWO differences in Cultures,
systems . Select two (2) organisations which carries TWO different Cultures which
emphasised 10% visible in its vision, mission and objectives AND 90% have
differences in its systems and how they managed conflicts and people .
Be aware and create your ICEBERG TEMPLATES with the 2 cultures /
organisations.
The iceberg analogy helps us keep in mind that there are hidden beliefs and values
below the surface and that what we experience on the surface – the behaviours,
symbols, or language – all have some deeper meaning.

Systems and approaches to resolved problems at work- place.
The iceberg model has established itself as a versatile analytical tool for uncovering
hidden influencing factors in different contexts. What all these fields of application
have in common is that the iceberg model enables a deeper analysis: problems and
issues are not only considered on the surface, but are understood in their deeper
layers. This makes it possible to develop more effective solutions – whether through
psychotherapeutic interventions, improved communication strategies or targeted
change management. In short, from open-plan offices to psychoanalysis, the iceberg
model helps us to look below the surface and to understand complex situations
holistically.
c) For leaders and managers, this knowledge is particularly useful when it comes to
change management. Mergers fail when cultures are not integrated. Describe the
pitfall in managing the performance of employees and give ONE management
theory that can resolved the issues at work place.
I.
Your assignment submission should have two components compiled into a
single document. The first component is a visual diagram of an iceberg model
applied to your problem (you may select, or create, your own iceberg
template).
II. The second component is a brief written description (approximately 2 pages,
double-spaced) explaining the four levels of your iceberg model (see below
for guiding questions). They are :Problem Statement, Patterns, Structure and
Pattern and Mental Model.
III. At the end of the written description, please include a short reflection on how
your own learning changed throughout this process of applying the iceberg
model; identify any assumptions you had or any challenges you faced doing
this exercise.
IV. This is an individual assignment so please work on your own and upload your
work as pdf It is not expected that you will be able to map the full extent of an
entire complex problem. Rather, this exercise is meant to help you begin to
think through a systems lens and explore interconnections within a system
underlying mental models that hold the system(s) in place? – What
assumptions, beliefs and values do people hold about the system?
